Music

The TCR music project has now been running for nearly fifteen years.  Starting from humble beginnings with a group of girls on the top deck of a bus in Cockfield the project now welcomes about 120 people through its doors every week.

Dealing with absolute beginner eight year olds to experienced professional musicians, metal bands, classical musicians, country artists, experimental projects, reggae bands, folk musicians, jazz quartets, songwriters, indie bands, music producers and anything else you can imagine the project provides a wide range of services including tuition, workshops, recording and advice and puts on a number of live music events each year.  More importantly the project has become a center point for a large 'family' of Teesdale musicians and musicians who still have their roots in Teesdale.

The music project holds it's annual Big Live Gig in the Jersey Farm Hotel in the Autumn featuring ten of the best TCR bands and artists.  The event has gained a cult status now, selling out every year with no advertising.  While at its base in Birch Road the project developed a highly successful recording studio producing hundreds of tracks for a wide range of musicians.  Since leaving Birch Road the facilities have been limited but recording is still taking place on a smaller scale.  The new facilities at the Hub will incorporate a top class studio facility.

In the last few years the music project has started to see some great success stories from their musicians.  Musicians getting their tracks on major US TV shows and films, groups signing recording contracts and touring nationally, bands being successful in national music competitions, musicians teaching professionally and a whole number of other musicians making music a major part of their life playing as soloists, in bands, working in production, live sound, and studying music in higher education.

The project is run by Andrew Yeadon
